Day 14

I'm going to start calling Tuesdays "Volunteer Days" for the rest of the month. It happens to be the day that I work both with Mary at V&V on our collaboration sculpture, and with Creative Team at CR for the big "Ballroom" project.

This afternoon Mary and I strung up some more paper stars in preparation for hanging the sculpture. I love being able to chat with her as we work and get to know her more. So here's what I've learned so far about Mary:
  • great teacher of origami
  • talented painter/artist
  • filled with ideas and inspiration
  • experienced actress
  • stage combat expert
  • karate student
  • loves to learn new things
  • goes out of her way to help others
  • kind and compassionate
Then in the evening I switched from delicate paper and string to cold, hard steel. Adam and I are working with some fine folks on the Creative Team to fabricate a huge playroom contraption that involves all sorts of tracks, tubes, air guns, conveyor belts, augers and pulleys. I'm grateful that my dad has joined our team, as his engineering mind is invaluable. And learning some leadership skills from him has proved to be both insightful and humbling.
